We have had a busy start to 2025 despite a few days closed courtesy of the weather.

In January some volunteer mentors from Fighting Words visited us to run a creative writing workshop with the senior pupils.  There were some wild and wonderful tales told. We definitely uncovered a few potential authors for the future.

The Junior pupils have been hard at work constructing with Lego and Magsnaps. The classroom farm and livestock take a lot of looking after so they are kept very busy.

As always lots of music is played with each student learning a traditional instrument. Every school morning starts with music practice, it’s a great way to start the day. We are now working hard to be ready to play in the St Patricks Day Parade.

Sixth class have received their new school hoodies and get to wear them with pride on tracksuit days.

As tradition dictates, we brought in rushes and made St Bridget’s crosses. Our older pupils helped the younger students and everybody had a finished cross to bring home at the end of the day. We hope they bring you blessings throughout the year.

A team of Fifth and Sixth Class pupils participated in the Credit Union Schools Quiz. They did us proud and enjoyed themselves. Despite their best efforts they were not successful in progressing to the next stage.

Our school participated in the Cumann na mBunscol Indoor Hurling Competition held in Easkey. Congratulations to our boys’ team who were successful and are through to the next round. Some great matches were played with lots of friendly competition between the schools.

Everyone has been practicing their chess and learning about electronics. We wish our chess team the best of luck participating in the Féile Fichille Chess Tournament later this month.
