Can you believe it’s October and we have been back to school over a month.All our new pupils have settled in and are enjoying school life.

It’s been a busy month for the staff and pupils with lots going on.

On one of the lovely sunny days at the beginning of the month the pupils went out blackberry picking. Mrs Flynn demonstrated jam making in the classroom and the following day – once the jam was set – everybody got to taste the fruits of their labours. Yum!

We received delivery of our new outdoor activity sets; a kitchen, a work bench and a shop. At break times there is cooking in the kitchen, a handyman or woman hard at work at the work bench and lots of negotiations in the shop! It’s great fun to see their imaginations at work with lots of day-to-day interactions being re-enacted in the school yard.

Our senior pupils were invited to partake in a day of games and activities in the GAA Connaught Centre of Excellence. They got to play a variety of games including gaelic football, hurling and dodge ball. There were relay races, lots of skills practice and some orienteering outside.

The pupils had a great trip to ‘The Dome’. Our thanks to Sligo GAA for arranging a fantastic day.

There has been a soccer tournament running in the senior room for the month of September. The students were divided up into teams of six, with each team including a range of ages and abilities. The play offs were at lunch times with a tense final played last week. Congratulations to Fionn’s team ‘The Jammy Dodgers’ who were victorious. They were presented with the Soccer Tournament Trophy on Monday.
