Taragh Cosgrove from the Edible Landscape Project was back with us last week. In October the pupils helped plant a Coxes Orange Pippin Apple Tree in the school grounds. Last week  Taragh guided the pupils in creating a herb patch surrounding our apple tree. A variety of herbs were planted including chives, parsley, rosemary and thyme alongside a blackberry bush.

All of the plants were sponsored by Bord na Mona as part of the Oweninny Wind Farm Grant. The compost came from the Ballina Civic Amenity Centre. Our thanks go to Taragh for organising the planting, to Gerry for supplying and delivering compost and to Kileenduff National School for storage and bagging of the compost.

We are looking forward to seeing our herb patch flourish.
