First Lego League Ireland provides hand on learning in STEM Robotics for children aged 4 – 16 years old.

We had such fun last year and learned lots so we are delighted to be participating again this year. The theme is “Superpowered” and focuses on energy production and consumption in the community.

We have registered for all three First Lego League programmes. The Discover and Explore programmes are aimed at the younger pupils in the school. They investigate a global STEM challenge and explore a real-world theme, it involves teamwork, design and programming skills – and most importantly having fun. The junior pupils will have a showcase event at the end of the year.

Our senior classes are hard at work on the First Lego League Challenge programme which includes all of the above plus a robot game and a research project. The team will present their Innovation Solution, Core Values and Robot Design at a regional tournament in March and have their robot take part in the Robot Games. Last year we brought home a trophy so fingers crossed for a good result again this year!

A big thank you to our sponsors Hollister ULC, Telus International and the Castleconnor Parish Trust who have enabled us to invest in additional technology so more of our pupils can be involved in the project.
