Last week we were delighted to welcome Aiden Dockery from Heritage in Schools to Stokane NS.

Aidan has devoted a huge part of the last 50 years putting together one of the country’s best collections of Irish stamps, coins, postcards, artefacts and commemorative booklets.

He is hugely passionate about all things Irish.

He arrived with a large variety of interesting objects and artifacts all relating to Irish history, geography and life in Ireland, both in the past and modern day. There was lively discussion relating to a wide variety of topics including aspects of Irish history, geography, literature, culture, music, sport and wildlife, to name a few! Some of the pupils brought their own items from home and got the opportunity to show case their artefacts. All the pupils from Junior Infants right the way through to Sixth class  really enjoyed the time spent with him and were fascinated with the objects he brought and the stories he told.
