We have commenced our Cycle Safety Training course supported by Cycle Right and Cycling Ireland.

It is a four-week course, the first week was theory based where the pupils learned the importance of road safety and practiced hand signals. Last week there was great excitement as they brought their bikes and helmets in to school so they could start to put theory into practice. They practised cycling as a group, careful braking and to be aware of cyclists around them. They practiced cycling one- handed so they can perform hand signals safely when out on the road and learned the importance of looking very carefully before turning. “If you can’t see, don’t go!” was highlighted as the Number One rule.

We have two more weeks of cycle training to go and are hoping to have everybody confident with cycling on the road by the time the course is finished.
