The STEPS Young Engineers Award competition encourages third and fourth  class pupils and their teachers to explore the world of engineering by developing an engineering project that would help improve their local community.

Last November the third and fourth classes put their thinking caps on and worked in teams to develop a project that could be entered in to the competition.

Lots of us have dogs and we enjoy their company but sometimes we don’t enjoy what they leave behind! The Brainiacs team developed a “Super Pooper Scooper” to make it very easy for people to clean up after their dogs in a safe and easy manner.  Designs were drawn out and prototypes created. Collectively they decided which version to submit and the Super Pooper Scooper project was entered in to the competition on behalf of the Brainiacs team. Today we are delighted to announce it has been short listed for the STEPS Young Engineers Award. The project has been selected over three judging rounds by a Panel of Engineer Judges and has placed in the top 30 projects from nearly 500 entries. Fingers crossed for the Brainiacs in the last round of judging.
